Our school's goal is not just to provide excellent Mandarin instruction, but also to cultivate a strong interest and understanding of the history and culture of China. Most Mandarin Schools here follow the old traditional way to teach Chinese, which discourages students from learning and makes them want to give up on Mandarin. Hanlin Mandarin School wants students to love the language by building their interest; they sing Chinese songs, listen to stories and play games. This allows students to want to practice Mandarin with others and even go home and speak Mandarin with their parents.

Our school name comes from The Hanlin Academy (Chinese: 翰林院, pinyin: Hànlín Yuàn, literally "Brush Wood Court"), an academic and administrative institution founded during the Tang Dynasty (618-907AD).
